FINANCIAL INFORMATION

The school is financed through tuition fees charged to parents of the students and donations made by supporters of Christian education. The Provincial Government, under the Independent School Act, provides grant assistance at a level that is at 50% of what the public system receives per student. The government does not provide any money for capital expenses. Thus, CVCS depends upon prompt payment of applicable fees to offer our educational program.

Tuition Fees
Payments can me made in full, over 10 months (August-May) or 12 months (July- June). For all families on a monthly payment plan, it is required that a pre-authorized payment be processed. The form is available at the office at the time of registration and re-registration.

Re-registration Fee (non-refundable)
A $200 re-registration fee is charged to each family to reserve your child's space in school for the next year, confirm teaching assignments, and to help us treat fairly those families on waiting lists. Failure to pay the fee will mean that your children's names will not be kept on the enrollment list for the fall.

Lump Sum Payments
There is a 2% discount for those making one lump sum payment by August 1.

Occasional Use- Bus Punch Cards
Occasional users will be charged $2.00 per trip for use of the bus. Contact the office for a $20 Bus Punch Card. They are good for 10 trips. It is wise to pick one up at the beginning of the year and return it for a refund of any unused trips at the end of the year. Occasional use is considered up to 3 trips per month. Any bus use more often should be considered at half service rates. If your child needs to use the bus occasionally, always contact the office to notify the bus driver in advance. No punch card... no admittance on the bus.

Tuition tax Benefit
A portion of tuition paid from January to December may be classified as a charitable donation and used on your personal income tax return. This is depending on how much tuition a family pays, how many children each family has attending CVCS and for how many months they attended school during a calendar year (ie. Jan- Jun and Sept- Dec). Another factor is what the “cost per student” is, which is the non-taxable deductible portion. The “cost per student” changes from year to year and is determined by a government-approved formula. Tax receipts are issued at the end of February each year. If you have any questions, please contact the bookkeeper.

Donations
Monetary and material (Gifts in Kind) donations are eligible to receive an official charitable receipt for income tax purposes. (Please note that Gifts in Kind do not include a gift of services).

Occasional Costs
From time to time students are required to participate in special projects or events which necessitate additional funds. These costs are usually minimal and we try to cover them with student fund raising, but occasional costs may be warranted.

Tuition Assistance
It is our philosophy that Christian Education should be available to all children. It is our goal to pursue this and hopefully in co-operation with the parents make this a fair and beneficial arrangement for both parties involved. If you need information on financial assistance contact the office. Only upon written appeal to the Board of Directors will there be consideration for an exception to paying the required fees, and those parents may be asked to meet with the Finance Committee and a tuition contract will be established according to the financial status of the family.

Outstanding Fees
If you are having difficulties making tuition payments, please contact the office to discuss what arrangements can be made.

NOTE: Fees subject to change.
