Students at CVCS are given opportunity to participate in many and varied events within the school as well as within the community at large. The school strongly believes that children and young people can make a difference in the world NOW. We believe that our students – whatever their age - need to be engaged in helping their world be impacted with the love of Christ. Not only that, our students are happier and healthier for having learned to serve someone else.
To that end, the school is developing opportunities for our students to serve others. Each teacher will develop age appropriate missions and service opportunities for their class. Some of the ideas have already been used. Others are currently been considered and developed:
- Participating in the Terry Fox Run
- Community food drives
- Buddying with other students
- Kindergarten students have mentally/physically challenged adults visit the classroom with attendants
- Recycling/composting
- Visiting seniors
- Helping in daycares, soup kitchens, and food banks
- Shoebox Ministries for Samaritan’s Purse
- Adopting a family through the Christmas Spirit Hamper Fund
- Used clothing drives
- Helping support schools in 3rd world countries
- High school students have the opportunity to participate in outreach trips during spring break
