Uniforms PDF Print E-mail

At CVCS, all students wear a uniform. This is not to burden students, but to free them from the pressure of conforming to certain images promoted by the world in which we live. We believe that if we can neutralize, more or less, the issues of outside appearance, we can then focus much more easily on issues of the heart.

Students and parents, we need your help here. The virtues of modesty, moderation, neatness, and cleanliness are very important habits that allow Christian character to shine. Students, you may not especially love the uniform (although others think you look very sharp), but if you wear it with the right attitude and heart, God will honour that decision in your life. We hope you will become proud to wear your school uniform.

The approved school uniform consists of the following:

  • A CVCS maise coloured golf shirt
  • Navy bottoms from CVCS approved supplier
  • A CVCS fleece jacket or vest
  • A separate pair of inside shoes for all students: conservative black dress shoe (with 1 inch or less heel) or all black low cut runner only
  • A white long sleeved collared dress shirt for special programs and events
  • Hats must be removed whenever a student is indoors. This includes any type of head covering.
  • Optional Summer uniform (May 15th – Thanksgiving Day): Navy dress shorts from CVCS supplier, CVCS maise coloured golf shirt, white socks and low profile runner or canvas shoe in mostly white, black or navy.

For physical education in grades six to nine:

  • Black or navy Shorts or
  • Sweatpants (black or navy) that are not the same as the ones worn in class
  • A CVCS gray or blue T-shirt in excellent condition, or plain athletic grey T shirt.
  • Appropriate running shoes

For special programs in all grades:

Students will be expected to wear the attire designated by the teacher or director of the program. Often this will involve attire that is more formal than the daily school uniform. Unless a program is officially designated as “casual”, all students and staff will be expected to attend in more formal attire.

On specially designated days when no uniforms are required, the following principles apply.

  • On beach and pool days the school insists on one piece bathing suits for the girls.
  • Any shirt or other garment that portrays slogans that are deemed offensive by the administration shall not be worn.
  • Clothes must be clean and in good repair. Tattered, torn or ill-fitting clothes are not acceptable.

At all times:
The school depends on the discretion of the parents/guardians to ensure their children come to school dressed in clothing that meets the dress code. If a student is not appropriately dressed the parents or guardians will be contacted and asked to come out with appropriate clothing. And due to the risk of injury from foreign objects, students must wear footwear at all times. The bus is also considered a part of the school. Uniforms must be worn from embarking on the bus in the morning until disembarking from the bus at the end of the day.
